​An Altar of Sound: Sonic Spells + Song Summoning

​Join us for a journey into the creative power of music and our abilities as conductors of it through Live Looping. Song and music have long been used as a way of keeping and sharing stories and passing on tradition. The stories we tell and repeat themselves and become patterns that inform our consciousness, just as a catchy song gets stuck in your head. In this hybrid workshop- somatic sound bath of rich multidimensional soundscapes, frequencies, binaural beats, colorful vocals and the sounds of nature, we will focus on using our creative power to shape a Sonic Spell- a way of alchemizing what is alive for us into a music we can move to- repatterning and reclaiming our minds. Using live looping, we will Summon the Song we want to dance to, creating an Altar of Sound as an offering to that prayer.

​Iris is a New York based multifaceted artist, combining colorful vocals, production and live looping to create hypnotic, multi-dimensional sound scapes, ranging from mediations to beat centric dance music. Focusing on improvisation and what is alive in the moment, Iris has a diverse background in sound healing, mysticism and vocal liberation. She believes music is magic- a force of change + evolution, a tool to help us realize dreams into being. She thinks of her sets as entering into a spaceship, though she may be at the helm, everyone is a part of the music, and the journey is one we are on together.
