McCoy has collected data from all continents, sailed across oceans, and explored river deltas - labored in tropical insect-plagued fluid muds and completed nine challenging Polar expeditions using icebreakers, ice-camps, and helicopters.
McCoy was honored with the Scientific Achievement Award by NATO for his role as a Principal Scientist and his pioneering work in underwater communications. McCoy has been awarded several patents, written scientific papers, presented as a keynote speaker, interviewed for podcasts, and is multilingual. McCoy was educated in Germany, France, Britain, and the United States.
