KQ Social: Data in the City
London generates data about itself constantly - the question is what we do with it.
For our next KQ Social, hosted in partnership with UCL Grand Challenges during London Data Week 2026, we're bringing together a cross-section of the city's research, innovation and policy communities to look at what the numbers are actually telling us about London right now..
Some of it is striking. Nearly half of London's workers are in roles where generative AI could automate a significant share of their tasks, a figure well above the UK average. The cost of a nursery place in London runs around 44% higher than elsewhere in the country, while a pint of milk costs roughly the same. And nearly half of all Londoners say they'd consider retraining for a 'green' job.
These aren't just statistics. They're signals about a city in transition: in how people work, what they can afford, and where they see opportunity.
