About Event

There's a whole process that happens after you hit "Apply" that nobody talks about. Who screens your CV, what they look for in the first 10 seconds, why some portfolios get opened and others don't.

Jamie Gutierrez has spent over 15 years hiring designers, engineers, and product people at companies like adidas, frog design, Publicis Sapient, and Accenture. She's led talent acquisition teams across Europe and Latin America, built hiring pipelines from scratch, and placed creatives at Amazon, Microsoft, Starbucks, and more.

Jamie started her career as a designer before crossing over to recruiting. She's been on both sides of the hiring table, which means she knows exactly what gets lost in translation between what candidates think matters and what actually does.

On March 19th, she's joining us for a live AMA to answer the questions you don't normally get honest answers to.

Things worth asking about:

  • What makes a recruiter stop scrolling and actually open your application?

  • How hiring works behind the scenes at large companies

  • How to stand out when you don't have years of experience

  • Whether portfolios, cover letters, and LinkedIn actually matter (and how much)

  • How to navigate a career transition into tech or design

  • What recruiters wish candidates would stop doing
