SUMINAGASHI PAPER MARBLING X RISOGRAPH WORKSHOP
Join Dirty Work Studio and Inter Arts Matrix for a workshop to learn Japanese paper marbling technique, Suminagashi, as well as printing on the Risograph!
As the Waterloo Region faces water insecurity, Suminagashi can brings us into contact with water, to collaborate and notice the way it moves with its own agency throughout the paper marbling process. Through this practice, we can question and learn how we can be more in relationship with the water, respect, and collaborate with it.
In this workshop, participants will marble 3 sheets of Kozo paper each. After, we will experiment with collaging words and symbols on top of the sheets of Suminagashi, scanning and printing them on the risograph in different colours.
Together we will string together each final collaged print, stringing together the words and images into a poem, calling on the original use of Suminagashi - a background for poetry.
This workshop costs $25. Each participant will leave with 3 sheets of Suminagashi and their collaged risograph print.

🚪 As this a locked commercial building, Elise will be outside from 6:45 - 7:00 PM to let attendees in. Please arrive within this timeframe as it is difficult (if not impossible) to let folks in after the session has started.
