About Event

In this conversation, Deidre Green and Terryl Givens examine the concept of at-one-ment—its scriptural roots, theological implications, and personal relevance. Drawing on years of study and reflection, they invite us to see the Atonement not only as doctrine, but as a lived experience of divine unity.

We invite you to participate, either in person or virtually, as  we discuss some of the most fascinating theological and historical questions that will come up during this year’s study of the Doctrine and Covenants. We hope you find these conversations enriching and supportive as you walk the journey of faith.

In-person attendees will have the opportunity to ask questions of these remarkable speakers. It’s an opportunity you won’t want to miss!

Friends of Faith Matters will get  automatic access to the livestream and subsequent recordings for free.  Click here to become a Friend of Faith Matters.

Deidre Nicole Green is Assistant Professor of Latter-day Saint/Mormon Studies at the Graduate Theological Union, where she offers courses on Christian theology and philosophy of religion. Her research focuses on constructive feminist theology and philosophy of religion, drawing on the thought of Søren Kierkegaard to respond to contemporary issues in these disciplines. She is the author of “Jacob: A Brief Theological Introduction.” Thanks for this. I think this is good and it seems relevant to add something like, "With Eric D. Huntsman, Deidre is the co-editor of the volume, Latter-day Saint Perspectives on Atonement.

Terryl Givens did graduate work in intellectual history (Cornell) and comparative literature (PhD UNC). He is the Neal A. Maxwell Senior Research Fellow at Brigham Young University and Professor Emeritus of Literature and Religion, University of Richmond (where he held the Jabez Bostick Chair of English for many years).

He has published several books on Latter-day Saint history, theology and culture as well as intellectual history. His current project is As I Have Loved You: A New Interpretation of Christian History.
