In 2012 The New York Times published an article "Snowfall" that gripped the masses. A graphics and design team of eleven staffers worked on the feature taking more than six months to assemble the piece. It won the Pulitzer prize in 2013.
Why?
It created a totally unique format and reader experience. It stood out, and 'wowed' with the combination of moving imagery and words.
A lot has changed since 2012.
Visuals and motion can be generated instantaneously. But the understanding of 'narrative', 'story arcs', and 'curation' of these visuals is not instantaneous. AI generated content is still all kind of...similar.
