About this event

Europe's approach to financial sovereignty in digital money is often framed as a single strategy, when in practice it is being built by several institutions moving in parallel.

Join us for a conversation between two Eurosystem central banks as we bring together Banque de France and Deutsche Bundesbank for a constructive conversation on the Eurosystem's approach to digital financial sovereignty.

The discussion will explore the role of euro-denominated stablecoins alongside the digital euro, questions of equivalence and recognition for non-EU stablecoin regimes, and what a coherent European strategy for digital money should look like.

Who should attend?

This session is designed for professionals and stakeholders in digital assets, financial services, EU policymaking, and central banking, as well as academics and civil society actors engaged in questions of monetary sovereignty, payments infrastructure, and regulatory governance.

No technical background is required, but a general understanding of the digital euro project and the current stablecoin regulatory landscape will enrich the experience.

  • Alexandre Stervinou (Director, Cash and Retail Payments Policy and Oversight, Banque de France)
