Company and positioning
Agile is an innovator in in‑space chemical propulsion, focusing on helping customers reach destinations faster and operate more efficiently in the “new space” economy.
The company is vertically integrated, with in‑house design, additive manufacturing, hot‑fire testing, analysis, and integration facilities, allowing rapid, iterative development and qualification.
Headquarters are in Durango, Colorado, with the business positioned in the defense and space manufacturing sector and employing roughly 50–200 people.
History and funding
Agile’s roots go back to 2009, when founder Daudi Barnes started Advanced Mobile Propulsion Test (AMPT), focused on propulsion testing; Agile Space Industries was incorporated in 2019 via acquisition of AMPT to become a full-stack propulsion provider.
The firm has executed thousands of hot‑fire tests and supported NASA, the Missile Defense Agency, and major primes prior to and after incorporation, building heritage in qualification and test.
Agile raised more than 18 million USD in seed capital, including a 13 million USD round led by Caruso Ventures with participation from Lockheed Martin Ventures and several venture funds, to expand production and test infrastructure.
