EDTH x Defence Builder: How Investors Actually Read Your Pitch
Daria Yanieva, President of Defence Builder, and Andrii Hryshchuk, Investment Manager at DB Fund, have reviewed over 250 defense tech investment applications between them — first at Sigma Software Labs, now at DB Fund.
On 5 November, they'll take two real, anonymised applications from the DB Fund pipeline — one that went to the next stage and one that stopped — and explain the difference line by line.
On the table:
The first 60 seconds with your deck. The order an investor reads it in, the page where most defence founders lose them, and why “use of funds: 40% R&D” is a reason to stop reading.
→ You’ll leave knowing which slide to rewrite before you send the deck to anyone. The questions an investor asks before it looks at your product. Jurisdiction, export control, sanctions screening, dual incorporation — and how to tell a fair risk discount from a cheaper price for your company.
→ You’ll leave knowing which structural fixes to make now, and which discount to push back on.Your data room through an investor’s eyes. Which documents close a question in one go, which customer evidence counts as traction and which is just a letter, and the red flags that end the process.
→ You’ll leave with a checklist to run your own data room against before the first call.
