EDTH x DroneMasters Academy – Lessons Learned from Military FPV Drone Training in Europe in 2025
For the past two years, European armed forces have conducted military FPV drone training programs, learning from the Russia-Ukraine War.
This session gives insights to real-world training environments and evolving battlefield requirements and introduces how FPV doctrine, instructor methods, and pilot selection had to adapt.
You will gain a practical understanding of emerging FPV training standards, common mistakes seen in early programs, and how European forces refined tactics, safety frameworks, and simulator-to-live-flight progression.
In the future, Ukrainian veterans and professional training organizations will instruct European armies with hard-won military experience to introduce actionable insights for commanders, instructors, and advanced FPV operators, preparing them for high-stress operational environments.
Speaker Christian Janke, Associate Professor at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University and Co-Founder of DroneMasters Academy, has led military selection, training, and certification programs in Europe and co-authored scientific research articles about this emerging field in warfare.
