Wind Innovation Forum
The 2026 Wind Innovation Forum takes place at a pivotal moment for the European wind research and innovation community. Following the launch of the European Wind Flagship initiative and in the context of the preparation of FP10, the Forum will bring together representatives from industry, research organisations, academia, Member States and the European Commission to reflect on the future direction of wind energy R&I in Europe.
The Forum aims to strengthen dialogue across the European wind ecosystem and translate recent developments into a shared strategic vision. It will provide a platform to discuss how current research and innovation priorities can support Europe's industrial competitiveness, accelerate the deployment of wind energy technologies and contribute to the objectives of the Clean Industrial Deal and the SET Plan. Particular attention will be given to the implementation of the Wind Flagship initiative, future funding opportunities under FP10, and the collaboration mechanisms needed to maximise impact.
A central objective of the Forum will be to finalise the next ETIPWind Strategic Research and Innovation Agenda (SRIA). Through dedicated thematic sessions covering industrialisation, digitalisation, energy systems integration, sustainability, circularity, skills and societal acceptance, participants will identify the key research challenges and innovation priorities that should guide European investments over the coming years. The conclusions will feed directly into the final SRIA to be presented at the SET Plan Conference in November 2026.
Beyond the thematic discussions, the Forum will also identify cross-cutting priorities and formulate recommendations to reinforce coordination between European, national and regional research and innovation initiatives. Ultimately, the Wind Innovation Forum 2026 seeks to consolidate a common vision for the future of European wind energy research and innovation and strengthen cooperation across the entire value chain.
A draft agenda will be communicated in the coming days.
