Hard To Explain, Easy To Feel + Laelo Black

​To celebrate the release of her debut EP, Phoenix, Laelo Black joins Hard to Explain, Easy to Feel for an evening exploring the people, places and ideas that shape a life in electronic music.

​Rather than a traditional playback session, Phoenix becomes the starting point for a wider conversation about what it means to trust the process, learn lessons and build your own path.

​Together, we’ll trace the experiences that inform Laelo’s sound, from travel across the African continent and Black British club culture to the communities, dance floors and everyday moments that quietly shape artistic identity. We’ll unpack the visible and invisible ecosystems surrounding DJs and producers: labels, promoters, management, digital platforms, audiences and the networks that influence who gets seen, supported and celebrated.

​What happens when you choose to move through that ecosystem differently? And if the traditional markers of success don’t tell the whole story, what does success actually look like?

​Using Phoenix as a lens, we’ll explore how new rhythms, genres and cultural movements become woven into the DNA of UK club music, and how DJs act not only as selectors, but as cultural caretakers, storytellers and music directors.
