Session Description: This roundtable will explore how open source software - with Bitcoin as a leading example - underpins today’s digital and financial systems, and why it deserves recognition as critical infrastructure and protection in policy and regulation. Block will discuss its recent open source white paper and lead a discussion on policy approaches that can safeguard open source developers and maintainers, distinguish between custodial and non-custodial actors, and strengthen security and resilience without stifling innovation or competition. The roundtable will feature Manik Surtani, Block’s Head of Open Source and Milly Rowett, Block’s Senior Engineering Lead for Bitcoin.

This roundtable is brought to you as part of Policy Week.

This week will catalyse substantive discussions, showcasing industry leaders and fostering debates on the way forward.

This initiative aims to shape the national narrative on digital assets, introducing a fresh perspective aligned with the dynamic sector nature.
