About Event

Join us for an exclusive inside look into the making and distribution of SPLITSVILLE with Producer Emily Korteweg (Watch This Ready), directed by multi-talent and 'the next distinct commercial auteur' Michael Covino, who also co-wrote the script with Kyle Marvin, and starred alongside Marvin, Dakota Johnson, and Adria Arjona.  The film premiered at Cannes in 2025, and was released theatrically by five-time Palme d'Or Winner and Oscar Winning NEON to rave Critical and Audience reception.

Emily will walk us through the whole journey. She'll share how the idea was developed, how her team attached talent, navigated the financing, production, and packaging process, and the overall release path of the film. And we’ll get an inside peek of what it means to be a multi-hyphenated artist from her vantage point.

Splitsville Synopsis

After Ashley (Adria Arjona) asks for a divorce, good-natured Carey (Kyle Marvin) runs to his friends, Julie (Dakota Johnson) and Paul (Michael Angelo Covino), for support. He's shocked to discover that the secret to their happiness is an open marriage, that is until Carey crosses the line and throws all of their relationships into chaos.

About Emily Korteweg

Emily Korteweg is a film producer known for her keen eye for talent and strategic approach to independent filmmaking. She is the Executive Vice President of Watch This Ready, the New York-based production company behind acclaimed films such as The Climb (2019), 80 for Brady (2023), and Splitsville (2025) where she plays a central role in the company's strategic development and operations as well as guiding projects from development to distribution with a focus on films that blend intrepid artistic ambition with broad audience appeal. Korteweg oversees Watch This Ready’s entire slate of scripted and unscripted features and TV shows, which includes projects at various stages of development with Topic Studios, Fifth Season, Amazon, Paramount, Waypoint Media, and more. Before transitioning into producing, Korteweg represented emerging and established filmmakers at Verve Talent and Literary Agency.
