Craft in the Digital Age: Play & Mental Wellbeing
Moderated by Yasmin Jones-Henry, the event will bring together artists from the Well–Crafted roster in conversation with a psychotherapist, Gretchen Robinson exploring why making, play and creative expression matter in adult life, and how craft can support reflection, regulation and connection, as well as re–wire neural pathways.
Joining the discussion are Lauren Godfrey, whose Pattern Portraits podcast explores people’s relationships to pattern and identity, calligrapher Carry Hornby, and fashion illustrator Joanna Layla. Each brings a distinct perspective on creative practice, from meditative mark-making to drawing as a way of observing and interpreting the world.
To keep the focus closely centred on art and creativity in celebration of London Craft Week, an additional artist will also share their experience of delivering workshops, speaking to the ‘AHA’ moments participants often encounter, and how the act of making not only impacts those attending, but also supports their own wellbeing.
This event celebrates the artists at the heart of the Well–Crafted community, championing the value of their practices not only as cultural contributions, but as meaningful experiences that can be shared with wider audiences through workshops, storytelling and live events. The conversation will open up questions around creative identity, process, community, and the role of hands-on practice in supporting wellbeing.
Guests can expect a warm, thoughtful gathering, with refreshments including drinks by Wednesday’s Domaine.
