in this interactive workshop, violinist, vocalist, and composer apoorva krishna offers a welcoming introduction to the foundations of south indian carnatic music through the lens of ragas. through singing, listening, feeling, storytelling, and live demonstration, participants will explore how ragas can evoke emotion, shape mood, and become a vehicle for creative expression.
designed for musicians and non-musicians alike, this experiential interactive workshop invites everyone. no prior musical experience is necessary- only curiosity, openness, and a willingness to listen.
about apoorva krishna
rooted in the south indian carnatic tradition and guided by a spirit of exploration, apoorva krishna creates musical experiences that invite deep listening, reflection, and connection. through violin, voice, and original composition, she weaves together her roots with contemporary expression, creating spaces where music becomes both meditation and dialogue.
apoorva has performed internationally across india, europe, africa, north and south america, australia sharing her work at venues and festivals including the harvard business school, kennedy center, venice biennale festival, london darbar festival, cape town jazz festival, berlin tagore centre, and madrid sony auditorium to name a few. she is the first indian recipient of the london tarisio trust young artist grant and received an honorable mention at the bmi student composer awards in new york.
