Restorative Justice for our Natural World: an exploration through a lens of the Ubuntu philosophy with Ilse Roos

Which individuals, businesses, governments, societies are "to blame" for the state of our natural world? What is the role of justice in our quest for regeneration? Can we "move on" in regeneration without redressing the past and who needs to bear the burden of this redress?

One of the well known maxims within the Ubuntu philosophy is 'Umuntu Ngumuntu Ngabantu' - 'a person is a person through other persons'. Magobe Ramose posits this personhood is an ethical question aiming for dignity and shared wellbeing for other humans AND our natural world.

In this session we will go into dialogue considering various perspectives of "restoring" dignity and well being within the quest for regeneration from the lens of the Ubuntu philosophy.
