First Commit: Building & Scaling Base Power with Jared Greene
Join Antler and AITX for the next session of First Commit, our fireside chat series with technical leaders who’ve scaled startups from zero to one and beyond.
This month, we’re sitting down with Jared Greene, Founding Engineer and Head of Software at Austin-based Unicorn Base Power. Before helping launch Base to fix the modern power grid, Jared was a Lead Software Engineer at SpaceX, where he worked on Starlink’s laser topology. He joined the Starlink team when there were only 60 satellites in orbit and helped scale the network to thousands, building the backbone of space-based internet.
Now at Base Power, Jared is leading the software effort to build a distributed energy network that makes the grid more reliable and affordable.
We’ll dive into:
Scaling Starlink: What it was like at Starlink and the technical challenges of managing a constellation of thousands of satellites.
The "First Commit" at Base Power: Moving from a giant like SpaceX to a founding role at a high-stakes energy startup.
Hardware + Software: Lessons learned from building software for complex, mission-critical physical systems.
Expect some light breakfast and networking followed by an unfiltered fireside chat.
Space is limited and attendance is by approval only. If you're an engineer or founder, we'd love to have you stick around to work from the Antler space after the session.
