About Event

Hello everyone,

More than thirty of you turned up to our last gathering at Dorthea's. A few of us even stayed to close down the bar around midnight. It was a great night, obviously, but also: now what? How do you follow that up?

The answer is probably just to do it again.

So we're meeting on Tuesday, June 9th, right before Copenhagen gets overtaken by curious people from all over the world for 3daysofdesign and Future Days (a festival that usually takes place in Lisbon but that will be happening this year literally a few hundred meters from our tables). Think of this as our unofficial kick off to design week mayhem.

This time, we’ll get together at Tom’s Oyster Shack; a floating spot in Christianshavn, right on the harbour. Tom built it as a nod to the clam and oyster shacks he grew up with in America, and it’s a wonderful place to gather on a summer evening.

We’re also doing this one together with Kiki Canuto, a Cape Verdean-American chef who travels the world cooking seasonal meals for creative communities. She'll be cooking a couple of special dishes for us alongside Tom's regular menu, so come hungry.

When: Tuesday, June 9th, 19:00–21:00
Where: Tom's Oyster Shack, 1436 København K

If you are an international working in a creative field—whether that is design, writing, music, film, food, or something else entirely—please come along. Danes are just as welcome, especially if you are curious about meeting creatives from elsewhere. And if you happen to know someone visiting the city for the festivals, send them our way!

Please register so we can give Tom and Kiki an idea of how many chairs to put out.

Hope to see you by the water 🌊

This meetup is part of a series of gatherings instigated by Curious Neighbours, a neighbourhood lab exploring how international creatives in Denmark can meaningfully contribute to the places they live in. If you'd like to hear about future meetups, follow us on Instagram.

Kiki is the chef behind Getaway Plate, a traveling kitchen built around a simple idea: that the best way to get to know a place, and the people in it, is to share a table. Moving from city to city, she collaborates with local artists, designers, and organizers to host casual meals for creative communities. Her menus draw entirely on whatever seasonal ingredients and local flavors happen to be within arm's reach that week.
