Saturday Scribe: The Future We Wrote
A Special Tulsa Tech Week Gathering in Collaboration with Parla Citywide Creative Festival
Words have power.
Before a world can be built, someone has to imagine it. Someone has to describe what it looks like, how it feels, who belongs there, and what becomes possible within it.
Right now, many of the stories surrounding artificial intelligence ask us to imagine what could go wrong. Dystopian futures have their place. They can warn us, challenge us, and reveal what we value.
But what happens when we use our words to imagine what could go right?
For Tulsa Tech Week, Saturday Scribe is collaborating with Parla Citywide Creative Festival to gather writers, technologists, artists, creatives, and curious minds around the page. Together, we're dreaming beyond the dystopia and writing toward a future we would actually want to inhabit.
A future where AI is developed responsibly. Where its benefits aren't reserved for a select few. Where technology expands access, strengthens communities, supports creativity, and helps us solve problems that matter.
Our words may not predict the future, but they can help us imagine what is worth building.
The full prompt will be posted to @SaturdayScribe on Instagram the week of the event, and writers everywhere are encouraged to participate from wherever they are.
No writing experience is needed.
Just bring a pen and paper. We'll bring the prompt.

In Collaboration with Parla Citywide Creative Festival
This gathering is part of a broader collaboration between Saturday Scribe and Parla Citywide Creative Festival during Tulsa Tech Week, creating more opportunities for Tulsa's writers and creatives to gather, make work, exchange ideas, and imagine together.
We're excited to welcome the Parla community to the page and introduce Saturday Scribe's community to the broader festival.
Hosted at Black Tech Street
We're honored to gather at Black Tech Street for this special edition of Saturday Scribe.
Rooted in Tulsa's Historic Greenwood District, Black Tech Street is working to build pathways for Black communities to participate in and shape the technology economy.
For a gathering asking us to imagine who gets to shape the future of artificial intelligence, there could hardly be a more fitting place to put our ideas on paper.
Thank you to Black Tech Street for opening its doors to our communities and making this gathering possible.
About Saturday Scribe
Saturday Scribe is a weekly creative writing community designed to spark imagination, nurture storytelling, and build connection. Each Saturday, writers gather in local coffee shops and cultural spaces to respond to prompts that stretch the limits of creativity, from character and worldbuilding to poetry and speculative fiction.
Founded by Vondell J. Burns, Saturday Scribe creates an inclusive space where anyone can write: poets, novelists, screenwriters, journalers, first-time Scribers, and people who simply need a reason to put pen to paper.
What begins as a prompt often becomes a portal into new ideas, fresh perspectives, and shared vision.
At its heart, Saturday Scribe believes in the transformative power of words to shape culture, community, and even the future.
This Tulsa Tech Week, we're putting that belief to work.
Before we can build a better world, we have to believe one is possible. And sometimes, the first place we build it is on the page.
