About Event

In this Teardown Library session, we'll explore the intricacies of ocular wearables - including the Meta Ray-Ban Display, Even Realities G1 and the Snap Spectacles - and the design decisions that allowed this form factor to break out past the early adopter stage and onto the faces of millions around the world.

Together with Era Labs and those involved in bringing the Meta Ray-Ban line to life, we'll discuss how designing beautiful form in parallel with function is critical to the success of any AI product, and how the responsibility falls on both designers and engineers to not only provide users with a magical technological experience, but offer a form of personal expression.

About Era Labs

Era Labs is a San Francisco-based early stage startup exploring technology paradigms beyond the smartphone. We believe that anyone should have the materials to create their own AI device, one that is an expression of both the artist and the end user. In 2025, we launched the Era Fellowship to empower the next generation HCI researchers to develop the most incredible new modalities of personal computing.

About Teardown Library

Founded in 2020, the Teardown Library is a community of product designers, engineers, and technologists who want to learn from the work of our peers in a hands-on way. We host an event series visiting the creative spaces of builders and maintain an archive of disassembled products new and old in San Francisco.

The Teardown Library is made possible by ongoing support from Baukunst.
