FutureCast
⚡️FutureCast
Overview
FutureCast is a two-hour participatory session where you'll answer seven questions about what San Francisco becomes. Not predictions but choices. Your answers become a dispatch. An AI called HERALD writes your first draft - from your perspective, in your voice. You edit it. Then you read it to the room.
Participants are divided into groups, each building a different part of the world: the neighborhoods that held, the industries that transformed, the stories that got told - and the ones that didn't. Every group contributes a piece. Together, they become a single podcast episode, a portrait of San Francisco into the future as the people in that room imagined it.
What to expect:
~2 hours
15-20 participants across four groups
World-building, discussion, and recording - no experience needed
Your voice in the final cut
San Francisco has always been the place where the next thing gets built first, and where the people who live with it rarely get to say what it becomes. Today and in the future, AI has reshaped work, media, and what a neighborhood even is.
You're here to build that world - and decide what it's become.
The episode will be released publicly after the session.

About the Future of Us Festival
Launching on America's 250th anniversary, the inaugural Future of Us festival is a 10-day celebration of civic imagination and possibility. We're turning community-sourced, expert-crafted visions of the future into art, storytelling, and participatory experiences. With 100+ events spanning every corner of the city (floral labyrinths, speculative future worlds, dance parties with a purpose, and neighborhood meet-ups), it's a living exploration of what a more creative and generative civic culture could feel like. Organized around four themes (Green Futures, Social Futures, Science & Tech Futures, and Media Futures), Future of Us is breaking down the barriers between art, ideas, and each other, and everyone is invited to co-imagine what comes next.
