About Event

Event Overview

Africa faces significant interconnected challenges, including shrinking fiscal space, climate change impacts, food insecurity, and rising youth unemployment—all exacerbated by declining official development assistance (ODA). Governments across Sub-Saharan Africa are caught in a fiscal trilemma, balancing:

  • Containing debt

  • Meeting development needs through increased spending

  • Managing resistance to tax hikes

With high debt-service burdens further weakening resilience, countries struggle to invest in critical human development sectors, intensifying challenges in health, employment, and poverty alleviation.

How can we catalyse networked advocacy to unlock financing for a resilient Africa?

Why This Matters

Urgent reforms are needed at both the global and regional levels:

  • Restructuring the Global Financial Architecture to meet today’s challenges.

  • Internal fiscal and structural policy changes by African leaders to diversify funding sources and create fiscal space for sustainable development.

What to Expect

Against this backdrop, Resilience Action Network Africa (RANA) and Pandemic Action Network (PAN) will convene a dynamic discussion on the sidelines of the Skoll World Forum, bringing together:

  • Leading advocates from Africa and beyond to critically examine financing challenges.

  • Experts in fiscal policy, global finance, and development to explore pathways to resilience.

  • A networked approach to advocacy, leveraging collective influence to drive meaningful change.

Who Should Attend?

  • Policy advocates & civil society leaders working on financing and development.

  • Philanthropists & funders interested in innovative financing for resilience.

  • Researchers & economists exploring fiscal and structural policy solutions.

  • Anyone invested in shaping a more resilient, financially sustainable future for Africa.

Join us as we unpack solutions, forge collaborations, and advocate for lasting change in financing a resilient, thriving Africa.

This event is free and open to all, but space is limited—RSVP now to secure your spot!
