Combating Climate Misinformation & Engagement Workshop with Shooka Bidarian
What does climate misinformation actually look like and how do we push back against it?
On March 19th, we’re hosting an interactive session combining a 40-minute presentation with a 30-minute hands-on workshop designed to unpack the growing wave of misinformation, disinformation, and greenwashing shaping climate narratives today.
Despite bold climate pledges, the world’s five largest oil companies: ExxonMobil, Shell, Chevron, BP and TotalEnergies spend millions annually on campaigns promoting climate leadership while continuing fossil fuel expansion.
So how do we separate truth from strategic narrative?
This session will:
✔ Break down misinformation vs. disinformation vs. greenwashing
✔ Expose common tactics behind misleading sustainability claims
✔ Equip you with tools to spot and challenge false narratives
✔ Explore how defending truth is a form of climate action
This will be an engaging, interactive session not just a talk, but a space to reflect, question, and collaborate.

🎙️ About the speaker
Shooka Bidarian is an award-winning climate and sustainability expert with 11+ years in journalism, environmental storytelling, and advisory work. She has led major campaigns with Climate Reality Europe, advised companies like IKEA and Sony on net-zero, and contributed to the Climate Crisis Advisory Group. As Media Fellow at UNU-INWEH, she leads global environmental communications. She holds an MSc in Sustainable Development from Sussex University. Shooka lives with her Persian cat and once found herself face-to-face with rewilded cheetahs while filming in Africa—driven by her unstoppable love for animals. Shooka will support Climate Hubs in Denmark, Estonia, Finland, Iceland, Ireland, Latvia, Lithuania, Norway, Sweden, and the United Kingdom.
