Designing Solo in a Low UX Maturity Environment
Being the only designer in a team that’s new to UX means you’re part designer, part communicator, part advocate. This session is for solo designers navigating low/no UX maturity and trying to ship good work without burning out.
We’ll cover:
1. What working solo in low-maturity organizations really looks like– setting expectations and picking your battles
2. The core challenges, no research budget, UI-only asks, and how that shows up day to day
3. How to tackle them, a mix of communication tactics to influence stakeholders + self-work to stay focused and protect your time
4. Using the CSD Matrix, a practical framework to run quick alignment sessions
5. Gathering context for feature requests – how to ask the right questions
If you’re a designer doing the work of a team, you’ll leave with tactics you can use to deliver your best without too much stress.
