A human-first workshop on using AI selectively around the writing process—without outsourcing your voice, imagination, or judgment.
What is this workshop about?
AI can generate polished writing in seconds. But good writing has never just been about producing well-formed sentences. It comes from perspective, lived experience, emotion, intention, judgment, curiosity, and an understanding of who we are speaking to.
Writing in the Age of AI is a practical workshop about using AI around the writing process rather than handing the writing process over to it.
Together, we’ll explore where AI can genuinely be useful — helping you develop and organise ideas, examine structure, spot gaps, research, review clarity, and refine your work — while keeping your own voice, imagination and critical thinking at the centre.
We’ll look at ways to:
Use your own notes, observations and drafts as the starting point.
Ask AI for questions, feedback and analysis instead of automatically accepting rewritten text.
Use AI for research, organisation, reflection and revision while retaining ownership of the final work.
Evaluate AI and writing tools based on the task, privacy considerations and how easily their output can be verified.
Recognise when polished AI-generated language may still be inaccurate, generic or lacking in meaning.
Check facts, claims, sources and quotations rather than assuming AI output is reliable.
Understand the limitations of AI detection tools, including false positives.
Decide when AI is useful — and when your writing is better off without it.
The workshop will conclude with a practical framework for deciding whether AI belongs in a particular writing task, where it might help, what information you should share, and how to set clear boundaries around its role.

About the Speaker — Tejaswini Mittal
Tejaswini “Wini” Mittal is a writer and creative strategist with experience across content strategy, executive communications, thought leadership and project management. Her work involves shaping ideas, narrative storytelling and helping organisations communicate with greater clarity and purpose. She has also written independently about technology and AI.
Wini has experimented with writing and art from an early age and approaches generative AI with both curiosity and caution. She is interested in what AI can offer writers, but firmly believes it should not replace the critical thinking, imagination, judgment or human experience that make writing meaningful.
