This live reading picnic invites you to slow down, connect, and reflect on what it means to be rooted in resistance — standing firm in our values while nurturing growth, justice, and change.
At the heart of the event is a reading of “Rooted in Resistance,” a story from Impact.Edition spotlighting local advocates working to expand Miami’s tree canopy — especially in neighborhoods where it's needed most.
This unique opportunity also gives you the chance to meet the author and featured changemakers in person.

You’ll enjoy a guided sustainability tour of the University of Miami campus, highlighting green initiatives, resilient landscaping, and nature-based solutions led by students and community leaders.

Bring a blanket, bring a friend, and come ready to be inspired — by the stories we share, the ground we walk, and the trees that remind us to stay rooted in resistance.
📍Note that we are gathering 15 minutes ahead of the planned tour start time. Please be on time and plan accordingly for morning traffic!
Getting there:
Please use a more sustainable transport option whenever possible, including walking, biking, bussing, carpooling, etc.
The Green and Orange lines run to the University train station, which is a 10-minute walk from the Wellness Center.
Parking is available at the Wellness Center off Theo Dickenson Drive.
