About Event

Thirty-three entries made the selection. One took first prize.

Join Luke Parkhurst and Michaella Tafalla of Afterform, London-based architects and winners of GENDO 48: Soldagen, as they take us inside In the Interval, their bathhouse at the edge of Kjerkfjorden.

Their starting point was how fleeting Soldagen is: a day you wait weeks for, then it’s gone. From there they designed a building that changes with the conditions around it. Cascading pools cool as they step down towards the sea, and the building opens to the water while sheltering against the mountain. The jury called it the first entry to draw on the region’s vernacular architecture.

Luke and Michaella will open up their canvas and show how they got there in four days. They didn’t save Gendo for the final renders. They used it from the start to test their ideas about light, temperature and the meeting of mountain and sea, and to rule out what wasn’t working fast.

Ismail and George will then give their feedback live, with the questions you’ll want answered:

  • What made this entry stand out to the jury?

  • How do you use AI to question a design, not just render it?

  • How did they keep a clear narrative across the board and the process?

  • What can you take into the next Gendo 48?

Bring your own questions too. Afterform, Ismail and George will answer as many as they can live, whether you entered Soldagen or you’re thinking about the next one.

Can’t make it live? No problem. The recording will go up straight after the session, so you can catch up whenever suits you.

One brief. One winner. Let’s see how they did it.

See you at sooon!

Thanks,
Joe
