About Event

A safe place for women changemakers (and aspiring women changemakers) to meet one another;

A small-scale gathering where you can actually have intentional conversations with everyone;

A community you show up and participate equally as an agent of change;

A space to exchange stories and find inspirations to bring collective impact;

A tribe you can come back to as your support network and build intergenerational friendships.

This is what this gathering is about. For women changemakers.

After 20 gatherings around the world, Girls Be Change is returning to Indonesia! Carmen Chan, founder of Girls Be Change is thrilled to cohost the Women (and Non-Binary) Changemakers Gathering alongside two significant changemakers in Bali, Rani Pramesti of Wedu, and Santi Rahayu of Women And Climate and Pariveśa Magazine.

In this gathering, we will explore the interconnected themes of gender equity, climate action, and leadership cultivation. By highlighting how gender equity enhances climate initiatives and empowers diverse voices, we aim to foster a collaborative environment. Participants are encouraged to share insights and experiences, engaging deeply with these critical issues while embracing curiosity and vulnerability.

It is a gathering where everyone shows up as an equal participant, questioning and chatting. No panel. No presentation. No speech. Just intentional conversations.

This gathering will take place in this special and beautiful restaurant, Inklusiv Warung, a space where everyone is welcome to be themselves. Located in the heart of Canggu. Inklusiv Warung proudly employ Deaf and Queer Individuals, and create a safe, inclusive environment where diversity is celebrated.

Come join us on November 9 (Sunday) for an afternoon to meet other fellow women and non-binary changemakers, exchange our stories and celebrate diversity!

What is Women Changemakers Community Series?

The idea began in the summer of 2023 when two changemakers in Hong Kong, Carmen Chan (Girls Be Change) and Dorothy Lam (Dream Impact), questioned and envisioned what an ideal community is. We need a safe place among women changemakers to have organic meetups, intentional conversations and idea exchange with social ease, find inspirations and encouragement from each other, and build authentic friendships and support networks.

The first Women Changemakers Community Gathering was held in Hong Kong on March 8, 2024 at International Women’s Day. Ever since then, Girls Be Change cohosted with 20 (and counting) organizations and gathered over 200 (and counting) women changemakers in Hong Kong, Indonesia, Kenya, and Tanzania, Denmark, Peru, and the US. With 20+ gatherings around the globe, a vibrant community of global women changemakers was formed and connected virtually to raise questions, exchange ideas, and celebrate wins.

Santi Rahayu | Women And Climate, Pariveśa Magazine

Santi is from Bali, Indonesia. As a passionate creative professional with 12 years of experience in creative direction, she specializes in transforming ideas into results, with a strong focus on aesthetics and conceptualization.

Growing up as the daughter of a female migrant worker in Hong Kong and a pensioner father, becoming the first in her family to earn a university degree was a dream. Driven by a desire for personal growth and to build a meaningful career, she moved to Bali. Along the way, she faced numerous challenges that shaped her journey and perspective on becoming who she is today.

Living in Bali deepened her connection with the ocean. Since 2012, she has volunteered in sea turtle rescue efforts during her downtime and learned from local environmentalists. This self-taught journey has given her a deeper understanding of marine conservation. In early 2023, she transitioned from being a creative director for a French fashion brand to working as an executive assistant to the CEO at Forest Carbon.

Surrounded by inspiring environmentalists, Santi strives to make a difference. In her spare time, she volunteers as a sea turtle ranger, walking 10 kilometers overnight and sleeping by the beach to protect nesting turtles. Engaging with the women's community, she serves as Bali City Lead for Women And Climate (WAC) and is the first leader in Southeast Asia. Additionally, she is developing Pariveśa, an online magazine dedicated to creative narratives about the environment and well-being, intending to connect environmentalists globally.
