Open Call *INFO SESSION* Gray Area x Modal

​Join Gray Area and Modal for an online info session about our new open call for artists working with artificial intelligence and the arts.

​This session will offer an overview of the opportunity, including the exhibition context, application process, selection criteria, available support, and the kinds of projects we hope to support. We’ll also share more about the guiding question behind the call — What can AI unlock? — and how artists might approach AI not only as a tool, but as infrastructure, material, and creative system.

​Selected artists will present new work in a group exhibition at Gray Area in San Francisco in October 2026. Each selected artist will receive a $2,000 honorarium, up to $20,000 in Modal credits, and up to $5,000 in materials and production support.

​The info session will include time for questions from prospective applicants. Artists, creative technologists, researchers, and interdisciplinary practitioners are welcome to attend.
