This is a hands-on, live workshop where you'll set up Cowork from scratch and leave with a working system you'll use every single day.
What You'll Learn (2hr Workshop + 30min Q&A)
Part 1: The Shift (20 min)
Why Cowork is fundamentally different from chatting with Claude. What "agentic AI" actually means when you strip away the hype. We'll look at real before/after examples of tasks that used to take hours, now done in minutes. You'll understand when to use Chat, when to use Cowork, and why the difference matters.
Part 2: Setup That Actually Sticks (25 min)
Most people open Cowork, try one thing, and never come back. That's because they skipped the setup. We'll build your foundation together:
Installing the Claude Desktop app and navigating to Cowork
Creating a dedicated working folder (and why your Documents folder is the wrong choice)
Writing your three context files: who you are, how you like things done, and your operating rules
Setting global and folder-specific instructions so Claude starts every session understanding your world
This is the part that separates people who think Cowork is "neat" from people who genuinely transform how they work.
Part 3: Your First Real Task (20 min)
We'll run a live task together. Not a demo you watch. You'll do this on your own machine:
Describing outcomes instead of steps
Watching Claude plan, execute, and loop you in
Reviewing and approving before Claude makes changes
Understanding what just happened under the hood (the VM, the sandbox, the file access model)
Part 4: Connectors and Plugins (25 min)
This is where Cowork gets seriously powerful. We'll connect Claude to the tools you already use:
Setting up connectors (Google Drive, Gmail, Slack, Calendar)
Installing your first plugin from the marketplace
Understanding how plugins bundle skills, slash commands, and connectors into one package
Customizing a plugin to match how YOUR business actually works
Part 5: Scheduled Tasks and Automation (15 min)
The feature that turns Cowork from an assistant into a system. We'll set up a recurring task together:
Morning briefings that summarize your email and calendar before you sit down
Weekly file organization that runs while you're making coffee
How scheduled tasks learn and improve after their first run
Part 6: Working Smart with Cowork (15 min)
The patterns that power users have figured out (so you don't have to):
Batching related work into single sessions to preserve your usage quota
The "handoff protocol" that stops Claude from guessing and starts it asking the right questions
When to stay in Chat vs. when to move to Cowork
Current limitations you should know about (no cross-session memory, no mobile, desktop only)
Q&A Session (30 min)

With 20+ years of software engineering experience across three continents (including Credit Suisse, Australian startups, and underwater robotics), he now helps growth-stage businesses work with AI in ways that actually stick.
Dominik is one of the first 60 Anthropic Claude Ambassadors worldwide. He uses Claude daily as both a developer tool (Claude Code) and a knowledge work tool (Cowork). He's an active organiser in the Claude Community AU ecosystem, a regular speaker at Claude meetups, and has been deep in the weeds of agentic AI since before most people knew the term existed.
