“Advancing Climate Justice through South–South–North Cooperation: From Shared Vulnerabilities to Shared Solutions”
Session Overview
Building on Climate Alliance Pakistan’s previous engagements during Climate Action Weeks 2025 in Sydney, Washington DC, San Francisco, Los Angeles, Rio de Janeiro, London, and Bangkok, this session advances the dialogue from South–South Cooperation toward a more structured South–South–North Cooperation (SSNC) model.
Countries in the Global South face disproportionate climate impacts — including extreme heat, flooding, food insecurity, and loss and damage — despite contributing the least to global emissions. Through South–South collaboration, developing countries have shared locally grounded adaptation strategies, renewable energy innovations, and community-led resilience models. However, scaling these solutions requires deeper engagement with Global North actors who hold critical leverage in finance, technology, governance frameworks, and institutional capacity.
This session creates a structured platform where:
Global South leaders share lived realities, systemic barriers, and locally tested alternative solutions.
Global North actors respond with practical pathways — including climate finance instruments, scalable technologies, ESG frameworks, and collective action mechanisms — to support equitable and just transitions.
Objectives
Explore how South–South–North Cooperation can accelerate climate justice outcomes.
Identify barriers to equitable finance, technology transfer, and adaptation support.
Highlight scalable solution models and partnership opportunities.
Foster cross-regional collaboration ahead of the upcoming global climate negotiations.
Format
A moderated panel of 3–4 speakers from both the Global South and Global North, followed by an interactive audience dialogue.
Expected Outcome
The session will conclude with a brief South–South–North Climate Cooperation Action Statement, outlining priority areas, partnership models, and collaborative commitments to strengthen climate justice and accelerate implementation.
