BEND DOWN SELECT: A READING ROOM

​Join us on June 27 for Bend Down Select, Okrika’s reading room series, at the historic Flatiron Arts Building.

​This month’s reading room centers on liberation—its many forms, expressions, and possibilities across the African diaspora. Spend the afternoon exploring a curated selection of African and Black literature, browsing the library at your own pace, and settling into our listening stations featuring music from the collection.

​Complimentary refreshments will be available courtesy of a few friends of the library.

​Whether you come to read, listen, research, reflect, or simply be in community, Bend Down Select is designed to be experienced slowly. Admission is free, with additional donations welcomed.

​For transparency, all proceeds directly support the production of our public programs, materials, and the ongoing work of keeping these gatherings as accessible as possible.
