X-Agent AI MCP Hackathon 2026: Build, Verify, MCPize, Monetize
About the Event
AI agents are only as useful as the capabilities they can reliably call. X-Agent AI MCP Hackathon 2026 invites developers, AI builders, crypto teams, and creators worldwide to build real-world capabilities that go beyond a prompt-only demo.
Over a two-week build period, participants will create and deploy an API-backed AI or crypto capability, submit complete source code and verification evidence, and go through technical, reproducibility, and security review. Participants do not need to implement MCP themselves. Projects that pass verification may be standardized by X-Agent into MCP tools and supported for submission to the OKX AI Agent ecosystem.
The goal is simple: build something useful, prove that it works, turn it into an MCP tool, and give it a path to ongoing monetization.

Challenge Themes
Participants will choose from 4 challenge themes covering AI, crypto, on-chain capabilities, agent infrastructure, data, automation, and related use cases.
The final themes and any optional sponsor challenges will be announced before the build period begins.
❗Important: Ineligible Project Categories
Projects involving on-chain security or auditing are not eligible to participate.
This includes, but is not limited to, smart contract auditing, vulnerability or exploit detection, wallet or transaction risk scoring, phishing detection, scam or rug-pull detection, security monitoring, compliance or security analysis, and similar services.
Event Timeline
Warm-Up & Registration — 5 days: Theme announcement, team formation, technical onboarding, and community Q&A.
Build Period — 14 days: Build, deploy, test, and submit your project.
Technical Review & Judging — approximately 10–11 days: Eligibility checks, API verification, source code review, and project scoring.
Winner Announcement — within 3 days after judging.
Exact dates, deadlines, and the official time zone will be announced separately.
What Is OKX.AI?
OKX.AI is an agent-native service marketplace where users can discover and hire AI agents or post tasks, while Agent Service Providers can list their services and earn revenue.
For standardized MCP and API services, OKX.AI’s Agent-to-MCP model supports free access or fixed-price, pay-per-call services without negotiation. According to the official OKX.AI ASP Guide, paid endpoints must support the x402 payment standard, with the OKX Payment SDK recommended. Calls can be billed and settled in real time on X Layer.
Selected hackathon projects may receive support from X-Agent to prepare for this model.
How to Participate
Register on this Luma page and join the official X-Agent community: X-Agent Official Community.
Choose one challenge theme and build a live, API-backed AI or crypto capability.
Fork the official X-Agent submission repository and prepare your submission materials according to the instructions.
Open a Pull Request before the deadline and be available for a short technical verification if requested.
Submission Requirements
Submit one independent project directory under:
submissions/mcp-hackathon/<team-or-builder>-<project-slug>/
An external repository link alone is not considered a complete submission. Please follow the instructions in the official X-Agent submission repository.
You do not need to build an MCP server before submission. After technical verification, X-Agent will evaluate eligible projects and assist with MCP standardization.
Technical Hard Gates
Projects will enter formal scoring only after passing all technical hard gates.

Core Winner Benefit: MCP Listing & Ongoing Revenue Share
Winning projects—and other outstanding submissions recognized through the review process—may receive support from X-Agent to package their verified capabilities as MCP tools.
Eligible tools may also be submitted to and showcased on OKX.AI through X-Agent’s service-provider account. When a user or AI agent makes a paid call to the tool, the developer will receive revenue from that call.
