HACK FOR HUMANITY: FALL 2026

Our chapter is joining Hack for Humanity, The AI Collective's global initiative running Fall 2026. It's the continuation of the Humans in AI Week conversations we held this summer, where we identified real problems in our local community... and now is our chance to build the solutions.

The schedule

  • 30 mins· Networking

  • 15 mins · Problem briefing

  • 3 hours · Hack

  • 45 mins · Demos and judging

When extreme weather hits, every second counts. Raging wildfires, severe sandstorms, sudden earthquakes, and critical water shortages aren't abstract concepts—they are immediate threats to local communities.

This Fall, our focus is clear: Building AI pipelines and intelligent systems that save lives, predict crises, and power emergency response.Come join us for a high-intensity, in-person build lab! You will team up on-site, brainstorm solutions, and collaborate with developers, designers, domain experts, and visionaries. Everyone will be given real-world problems and exercise scenarios to tackle together in person. All types of builders are welcome at this event. The winners of this event may be asked to showcase their products within our global newsletter with 300k+ subscribers!

The Challenge

Build solutions targeting high-impact disaster and environmental scenarios:

  • Wildfires & Forest Preservation: Early detection and fire spread modeling.

  • Water Crisis & Contamination: Water security tracking and pollution response.

  • Air Quality & Atmospheric Hazards: Real-time atmospheric hazards monitoring.

  • Earthquakes & Seismic Threats: Infrastructure vulnerability and early alerts.

  • Droughts & Sandstorms: Extreme weather forecasts, dust tracking, and resource management.

The 5 Solution Pillars

Your project should target at least one phase of the crisis lifecycle:

  1. Predict: AI forecasting, early warnings, and risk detection.

  2. Prepare: Community readiness, resource mapping, and stress testing.

  3. Respond: Live emergency communication, alert systems, and routing.

  4. Rescue: Search-and-rescue assistance, drone mapping, and rapid dispatch.

  5. Recover: Damage assessment, rebuilding plans, and crisis restoration.

Event Schedule
