Join us for the next session of Sansome Film Club — a regular movie night hosted by Lighthouse for anyone in the Bay interested in the intersection of science, technology, and movies!

This time we’re screening Moneyball (2011), directed by Bennett Miller and starring Brad Pitt, Jonah Hill, and the gone-but-not-forgotten Oakland Athletics. Set in the Bay Area, Moneyball tells the true story of how data analytics reshaped baseball and challenged decades of tradition.

After the movie, we’ll dive into questions like:

  • What does Moneyball teach us about using data to challenge entrenched systems?

  • What are the pros and cons of analytics shaping everything from sports to startups?

  • What is the movie saying about how to integrate quantitative models with human intuition?

Whether you’re a baseball fan, a data geek, or just want to see another great California movie with Chris Pratt in a supporting role, come hang with us for a great film and discussion!
