🚀 Geotab Vibe Coding Competition, Sponsored by Google Cloud:
From Prompt to Pavement: Redefining Fleet Intelligence
This is an open invitation for you to reimagine the world of transportation. We are moving away from rigid requirements toward a creative "Zero to Hero" roadmap. We provide the data and the AI connector; you provide the vision.
Prompt Your Vision into Reality
We’ve bridged Geotab’s data with the world’s most powerful AI models.
The Method: Describe → Generate → Refine.
The Goal: Functional prototypes that solve real problems.
The Playground: Real-world simulated data (GPS, diagnostics, fuel, safety events).
📅 Timeline
Competition (participation): Feb 12 – Mar 2, 2026
Submission Deadline: March 2, 2026, at 11:59 PM EST
Judging: Mar 3 - 22, 2026
Winner Announcement: Mar 23, 2026
What Can You Build? (Inspiration)
We expect to see a wide range of solutions. Here are a few paths you can take:
Custom Add-Ins (No-Code): Use the Google Gem Architect to prompt a new MyGeotab page into existence in minutes.
Custom Add-Ins (GitHub): Build a more complex UI hosted on GitHub and integrate it directly into the MyGeotab platform.
Stand-Alone Platforms: Create a separate website or unique dashboard that visualizes fleet data for a specific audience.
Enterprise Integration: Sync Geotab data with tools like SAP or Salesforce to automate business workflows.
Conversational Intelligence: Build new MCP Skills that allow managers to "chat" with their fleet to get instant insights.
Fleet Gamification: Build a game—create leaderboards for driver safety or fuel-efficiency challenges.
Niche Solutions: Solve a specific pain point for industries like Construction, Waste Management, or Logistics.
🏆 Prize Pool ($25,000 Total)
The Vibe Master ($10,000): Best overall solution- Innovation, utility, and execution.
The Innovator ($5,000): Exceptional technical creativity and use of AI.
The Disruptor ($2,500): Most unique or surprising "outside-the-box" idea.
Best Use of Google Tools ($2,500): Best application of AI reasoning using Google Tools.
Green Award ($2,500): Best solution for sustainability or EV optimization.
Most Collaborative ($2,500): The Community Hero: Most active in helping others on Reddit/GitHub.*
*"Most Collaborative" is an individual award given to one person, stackable with other awards.
🔮 Your Toolkit: The Vibe Coding Stack
We’ve curated a set of tools to help you move from an idea to a working prototype in record time. Whether you are a seasoned developer or a first-time "vibe coder," these resources are your foundation.
The Single Source of Truth
The Geotab Vibe Guide (GitHub): This is your mission control. It contains the 60-minute "Zero to Hero" roadmap, sample prompts, guides, skills, and tools you’ll need to get started. ☝️Bookmark this first.
What You’ll Use
Geotab Demo Account (Required): We provide the fuel. You will get access to a free MyGeotab Simulator account packed with live-simulated data—trips, engine diagnostics, fuel levels, and safety events—so you can build without needing physical hardware.
AI Assistants (Your Co-Pilot): This is vibe coding. You are free (and encouraged) to use any AI-assisted coding tools you prefer—Gemini, Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor, or GitHub Copilot. Use them to generate boilerplate, debug logic, and translate your natural language prompts into working software.
Google Cloud & Gemini (Encouraged): While the invitation is tool-agnostic, we highly encourage the use of Google Gemini 3.0 and Google Cloud. Solutions that leverage the speed of Gemini Flash or the deep reasoning of Gemini Pro for fleet insights are top contenders for the Intelligence Award.
The Support Hub
r/geotab (Reddit): This is our dedicated Reddit thread to discuss the Hackathon! We will use it for:
Technical AMAs with Geotab engineers (Felipe and Aaron).
Teammate matching and brainstorming.
Troubleshooting your "vibe" when the code isn't cooperating.
🌟 Note: Activity here counts toward the Most Collaborative prize!
Submission Requirements (Due Mar 2, 2026)
The Demo: A 3-minute video showing your solution in action.
The Code: A link to your public GitHub repository (including the prompts used).
The Story: A brief description of the problem you solved and your "vibe coding" journey.
