Quayola: En plein air | HEK x Tezos Foundation Reception

​HEK (House of Electronic Arts), in partnership with the Tezos Foundation, presents En plein air, an outdoor installation by Quayola staged on HEK's exterior platform.

​The installation showcases fragments drawn from Quayola’s ongoing series Pointillisme. A high-precision laser scanner observes the intricate and vibrant tree formations, unable to accurately resolve their complex geometries and colors. Documenting the scanner’s failures and related chromatic aberrations, this research draws a parallel between pictorial gestures and new machinic expressiveness.

​Bringing digital artistic practice into public space, the installation renders questions of authorship, ownership, and preservation visible in an urban setting, where code becomes experiential and protocol opens onto participation.

Evening continues with Rafael Lozano-Hemmer set as DJ tacostan at 10pm downstairs.
