AI & Climate Action: Part of the Solution or Part of the Problem?
Language: English
Can Artificial Intelligence help make the way we use resources more sustainable – or does its own energy and resource consumption add to the challenges of climate change?
Artificial Intelligence is transforming how we use data, manage processes, and make decisions. It can help us use resources more efficiently, identify inefficiencies, and better understand complex relationships. At the same time, AI itself requires significant computing power, energy, hardware, and other resources.
This raises a central question: How can we use AI in a way that turns technological progress into environmental progress?
The panelists:
Sophia Wieland, Sustainability & Climate Change Lead at Celonis SE
Moritz Spielvogel, Co-Founder & CDO at TreeSense
Rainer Karcher, CEO of Heartprint and CSO & Board Member of the US-based NGO SustainableIT.org
Anna Steinberg Schulten, PhD at SODA Lab (LMU)
Together with Celonis we look forward to an open exchange across science, business, technology, and sustainability – and to a discussion about the opportunities, limitations, and conditions for using AI to enable more effective climate action.
