AI Real Talk: News in an AI-intermediated world, with Tow-Knight's Gina Chua and Adiel Kaplan
News will be intermediated by AI, whether we like it or not. That's the starting point of "The Three-Layer Cake," the new report from the Tow-Knight Center for Journalism Futures at the Craig Newmark Graduate School of Journalism at CUNY. It distills a year of salons, workshops and experiments with journalists, technologists, funders and others, and maps where each of them can act while the new infrastructure of information is still being built.
Gina Chua, the center's executive director, and Adiel Kaplan, its program director, will join us for the latest Hacks/Hackers AI Real Talk to walk through what they found: why readers will increasingly decide what counts as news, what that could mean for misinformation and for communities the media has long underserved, and why they think the most useful fixes live in shared infrastructure rather than inside individual newsrooms. As usual, we'll take lots of community questions too.
