About the Speaker:
Mr. Zulfiqar Younas is a senior climate finance and public policy professional with over 30 years of experience spanning government, diplomacy, and development finance. Currently the Senior Advisor (Climate Finance) to the CVF-V20, he previously served as Pakistan’s Additional Secretary for Climate Change and Special Assistant to the Finance Minister.
A native of Gilgit-Baltistan, Mr. Younas’s unique perspective is rooted in his early experience as a mountain trekking guide, giving him a profound understanding of high-altitude ecosystems and livelihoods. He was instrumental in shaping Pakistan’s National Carbon Market Policy (2024) and serves as one of twelve global members of the UNFCCC Article 6.4 Supervisory Body.
By bridging international Paris Agreement standards with local implementation, Mr. Younas offers green startups unparalleled expertise on unlocking climate finance and monetizing nature-based solutions within Pakistan’s mountain regions.
