The Writer's Blocc: From Page to Stage w/ Tariq Brown

​Your poem exists on the page. This workshop is about getting it into your body and out into a room.

​This is a practical session on turning written piece into a spoken word performance. New to performing or already on stage but want sharper delivery, either way, this is built for you.

​We'll cover:

• ​What actually changes when a poem moves from page to voice

• ​How pace, volume, emphasis and pause shift a poem's meaning

• ​A simple annotation system for marking up your script to perform

• ​Real practice time, in front of others, with feedback

​You'll leave having reworked one of your own poems and performed it for a partner. The techniques stay with you after the session ends.

​No performance experience required. Bring a poem you've written and the will to try something with it.

​We want to see what happens when your words leave the page.
