About the book:
The Road Back follows Berta, a young mother who leaves her daughter behind in rural Mexico to work for a wealthy family in San Antonio, hoping to build a better future. Trapped between exploitation, survival, love, and migration, Berta’s journey unfolds across borders, fields, deserts, and memory.
Through deeply human storytelling, Natalia Treviño captures the emotional cost of migration, the resilience of immigrant women, and the fragile space between hope and sacrifice. Both intimate and expansive, the novel is a moving meditation on identity, labor, motherhood, and the dream of a different life.
Her poetry collection is titled When You Were Human. She will also read from the book, and it will be available for your family library.
