About Event

Join our 10-week Contemporary Painting Club, where we explore the work of five contemporary painters — Anna Ruth, Shaquelle Whyte, Eva Helene Pade, Andrew Cranston, and Michael Armitage.

Each artist has been chosen for their process of painting and their ability to blend the real with the imagined. Every two weeks we focus on one painter, beginning each session with a group discussion on their themes, materials, and processes, followed by a demonstration and optional questioning.

Each week we will explore the techniques and approaches of the featured artists, helping to broaden your skills in composition, colour, texture, and expressive mark-making to develop your own style. The course concludes with group feedback, giving everyone time to reflect and share progress.

Cost: £200 (£10 an hour, £20 a session)

Up to 25% concession rates are available for people experiencing financial hardship, including low- or no-income households and students who are genuinely in need. If this applies to you, please email us. We operate on trust.

With only 12 places available, the group stays intimate and interactive, ensuring personal guidance and support.
If you’re on a lower income, please get in touch to discuss concessionary rates, as we aim to make the course accessible to everyone who would like to take part.

If you’d like, you can attend the class together at someone’s house, but both participants must be enrolled, as the 12-place limit ensures everyone receives feedback time. This is a great opportunity to discover new artists, experiment with painterly techniques, and connect with other creatives.

Ensure you set up a dedicated space beforehand where you can paint freely and get a bit messy if needed.
