Vernissage "BABEL" : Matthias Fabre & Gerd Kanz
La galerie a le plaisir de vous inviter au vernissage de l’exposition BABEL, réunissant les œuvres de Gerd Kanz et Matthias Fabre.
À travers leurs pratiques respectives, les deux artistes interrogent les notions de langage, de structure et de construction; qu’elles soient architecturales, mentales ou symboliques.
Le vernissage se tiendra jeudi 29 janvier, de 18h00 à 21h00, au 18 rue Séguier, 75006 Paris.
L’exposition sera visible jusqu’au 11 février.

Matthias Fabre, artiste franco-polonais, développe une pratique picturale nourrie par l’écriture et la poésie expérimentale. Traducteur et poète, il explore dans sa peinture des écritures asémiques, affranchies de toute signification linguistique pour ne conserver que le geste, la forme et le rythme. Sa fascination pour le graffiti urbain, notamment celui des couloirs du métro parisien, traverse son travail. Sa démarche, profondément conceptuelle, cherche un équilibre entre rigueur théorique et lisibilité sensible, faisant de la peinture un espace d’apprentissage et d’expérimentation permanente.
En dialogue, les sculptures de Gerd Kanz, artiste allemand formé à l’Académie des beaux-arts de Nuremberg, déploient un langage formel ancré dans l’architecture. Évoquant portes, fenêtres, arcs romans ou ogives gothiques, ses œuvres jouent sur les superpositions, les patines et la couleur, et semblent appartenir à un temps suspendu, offrant une expérience visuelle à la fois sensible et immersive.

The gallery is pleased to invite you to the opening of the exhibition BABEL, featuring the works of Gerd Kanz and Matthias Fabre.
Through their respective practices, the two artists explore notions of language, structure, and construction — whether architectural, mental, or symbolic.
Matthias Fabre, a Franco-Polish artist, has developed a pictorial practice nourished by writing and experimental poetry. A translator and poet, he explores asemic writing in his paintings — forms liberated from linguistic meaning, focused solely on gesture, shape, and rhythm. His longstanding fascination with urban graffiti, especially in the Paris metro, informs his work. Deeply conceptual, his practice balances theoretical rigor with visual clarity, making painting a space of continual learning and experimentation.
In dialogue, the sculptures of Gerd Kanz, a German artist trained at the Nuremberg Academy of Fine Arts, unfold a formal language rooted in architecture. Evoking doors, windows, Romanesque arches, or Gothic ogives, his works play with overlapping forms, patinas, and color, creating a timeless experience that is both visually immersive and sensibly engaging.
The opening will take place on Thursday, January 29th, from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM, at 18 rue Séguier, 75006 Paris.
The exhibition will be on view until February 11th.
