ABOUT THE EVENT
Part film showcase, part creative lab, part platform for conversation—MIXED* is a collaborative experiment at the edge of storytelling.
Curated by a multidisciplinary Selection Committee of industry leaders and practitioners, the MIXED* program moves beyond technical demonstrations to foreground films where storytelling, intention, and craft drive the work—regardless of the tools involved.

Global Film Showcase
A curated selection of short films spanning all genres, each blending human-led filmmaking with emerging generative workflows and traditional techniques. Films to be screened:

Live Panel Conversation
A moderated discussion bringing together voices from film, creative agencies, education, and technology—designed to move past “debate theater” toward substance.
The panel will be moderated by Adam Davis, Executive Director of Oregon Humanities, and will include Nishat Akhtar (Chief Creative Officer, Instrument), Mike Vogel (YouTube Creator, AI Video School), Suzame Tong (AI Leadership, Level Seven), and Steven Golliday (Documentary Film Editor, Independent).

The Asterisk Award
A vote will be cast by the audience in attendance and presented to the film that best embodies the ethos of MIXED*—emotional depth, creative curiosity, and a thoughtful integration of humanity and technology.

A chance to connect with peers, share ideas, and reflect on Portland’s role in shaping the future of global storytelling.
