field:work | Interactions with p5.js
βIn this π³πΆπ²πΉπ±:π°π¨π«π€ workshop, Jo Ho introduces p5.js, a friendly JavaScript library for making visuals in the browser. With a focus on interaction, the session explores how creative code can respond to people in real time.
βParticipants will build a visual sketch and connect it to different kinds of input, allowing it to change as people play with it. Newcomers will start with the basics: mouse interaction and simple on-screen controls such as sliders and colour pickers. Those with some coding experience can experiment with inputs such as body and gesture tracking, or controlling a sketch from a phone.
βEveryone works from a shared starting point and leaves with an interactive sketch of their own, before we wrap up with a short sharing of what weβve made.
βBring a laptop and your charger. Suitable for complete beginners and those with some coding experience. Starter code is provided for both levels.
βWorkshops & Explorations is a monthly series of sessions within π³πΆπ²πΉπ±:π°π¨π«π€ exploring creative coding, generative systems, and computation as an artistic medium.
