'Fractured Self' Immersive Experience
Fractured Self by the Quartz Collective opens as part of the Tellus Triannual at Greatorex Street, presenting a new multidisciplinary installation that brings together animation, painting, sound, and live performance to create an immersive gallery environment.
At the centre of the installation is a semi-transparent structure constructed from PVC and recycled bag strips. Two projectors cast animated imagery through the material and onto live performers within, blending physical bodies with shifting digital forms and dissolving the boundary between the virtual and the live.
The work explores the physical and emotional limits of the body, focusing on tensions between space, control, and autonomy. Improvised movement and looping visuals generate a sense of repetition and unpredictability, intensified by a layered, evolving soundscape.
Paintings line the surrounding walls, each individually lit to create intimate encounters with the viewer. A documentary-style video woven into the space presents fragments of everyday life through spontaneous imagery, handwritten notes, and personal reflections. In the black room, digitally printed eyes envelop the viewer on all sides.
With love,
