Every time the PM2.5 crisis returns, the same questions arise: What causes it? Who is accountable? And how can we solve it sustainably? The answers may be buried across thousands of news reports spanning decades—but who has time to compile and read them all?Join our session on the “IRD Newspaper Air Pollution Analysis” project.
Using the Google Gemini API, we processed 2,282 news files, transforming scattered unstructured text into a structured, research-ready dataset. The result helps reveal trends in the problem, map key stakeholders, and surface solutions proposed over the years. The dataset is delivered as an accessible Excel file so researchers, civil society, and policymakers can explore patterns and support evidence-based policy decisions—while dramatically reducing the time required for literature review.This session is a collaboration between PALO IT × Thailand Clean Air Network (ThaiCAN) × IRD (the French National Research Institute for Sustainable Development), uniting technology experts, civic advocates, and academic specialists with a shared goal: to build robust, trustworthy, and transparent tools that uphold everyone’s right to breathe clean air.
